All About Samantha Jackson

I was born and raised in Washington, D.C. My love for cooking comes from my grandmother, who was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. My passion for cooking came from family gatherings, church events, and Sunday dinners. I come from humble beginnings and have always been taught how to make something out of nothing; Cooking for myself and two younger siblings piqued my interests in the Culinary field. I enrolled in M.M Washington’s Vocational Culinary Program in 2000 and participated in cooking competitions with skills USA. 

In 2004, I earned my associate degree in culinary Arts from Stratford University. I started my professional career at Marriott Hotels, where I rose through ranks, starting as a line cook and ending my tenure as a Banquet Supervisor. During my 13 years working with the company, I have worked at various properties like Westfield Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, J.W Marriott, and Marriott Marquis Hotels. While each property serves different purposes, one thing remains consistent: treating everyone with respect and appreciation. TO this day, that value is one of many that I strive to embody and instill in my four young sons. I begin the next chapter of my professional career with the world-renowned MGM Resorts at the National Harbor in 2017 as Sous Chef in Garde Manger. With hard work, a can-do attitude, creativity, sacrifices, and business acumen, I am currently the Executive Chef at the National Market. Not too bad for a girl with a DREAM from Southeast, Washington, D.C.
